About

Fernando Picoral

I'm Fernando Picoral — a Brazilian software engineer based in New York. I just graduated in Computer Science from CU Boulder (May 2026) and I'm joining Google full-time as a Software Engineer in September 2026, after three summer internships with the company.

Right now

I just graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BS in Computer Science (May 2026, 3.9 major GPA, with a minor in Business Administration).

In September 2026 I join Google full-time as a Software Engineer in New York, after three summer internships with the company — first in Kirkland (Android Messages), then in Sunnyvale (Data Bridge Console), and most recently in NYC (Google Keep).

In the meantime I tinker with side projects. They are not products — they exist because I wanted to learn something specific. Right now those are voice AI, multi-agent orchestration, agentic RAG, and recurring-billing plumbing.

Background

I grew up in Brazil, in Porto Alegre, and started writing code as a teenager.

In November 2020 I founded Stockvio, which automated capital-gains tax (DARF) for Brazilian individual investors trading on B3. Led it as CEO until February 2022.

In June 2021 I joined Poatek as a software engineer working with a Florida-based asset-management firm. Full-stack: Angular dashboards, Node/Express/MongoDB backends, an AWS Lambda in Kotlin that used an Excel sheet as the CPU for investment-return formulas, integrations with DocuSign and Canvas. My first real full-time job.

In August 2022 I started undergrad at CU Boulder, and the next month joined the Brain, AI, and Child Lab under Dr. Tom Yeh as a research intern — internal tooling, a mobile app with on-device object detection, an AR-glasses study platform. That same fall I cofounded AnoniMe, a location-bound anonymous social app, and led it as CEO until October 2023, raising 100K+ USD and reaching a 500K USD valuation. I also spent a semester as Engineering Manager for the MENV program at CU Boulder, leading a small team that automated the master’s-program capstone matching.

In November 2023 I cofounded Trius, serving as CFO until January 2025 and then as Board Advisor through June 2025.

I have interned at Google every summer since May 2023 — Android Messages (STEP, Kirkland), Data Bridge Console (Sunnyvale), and Google Keep (NYC). Returning full-time to NYC in September 2026.

How I work

  • Ship the small thing. I’d rather merge a working 60% version today than a perfect plan that ships next quarter. Production beats design doc.
  • Read the source. When something behaves weirdly, the canonical answer is in the code, not in a blog post.
  • Boring infra under exciting features. Tenancy, observability, error boundaries — the unglamorous layer is where products live or die.
  • Instrument before optimizing. Numbers beat intuition. Always.
